Home to one of Canada’s oldest rodeos and Western Canada’s biggest Canadian flag, our ranching community tucked in the south-western corner of the Shuswap is a hamlet of hospitality.

With 10 lakes within a 10 minute drive, be sure to chat up the locals at the Ranch Cafe or the local pub for tips on the best fishing holes. Mosey on your way through the back roads where neighbours Gardom Lake, Deep Creek and Ranchero will further reveal the area’s enduring charm.

While many visit Tsutswecw Provincial Park in October to witness nature’s greatest example of sustainability, it’s a fascinating place to visit any time of year.

Part mountain playground and part lakeshore oasis with acres of water to explore. Her caretaker, the Little Shuswap Band and the communities from Squillax to Anglemont, Lee Creek, Celista, Magna Bay, and St Ives, are as awe-inspiring as the very salmon who grace us year after year.

Shuswap Lake has four arms–Shuswap, Seymour, Anstey and Salmon–where you’ll find us.

Sure, we hustle and bustle to accommodate our regional guests but we play well too. We’re home to North America’s longest curved in-land wooden wharf, the renown Roots and Blues festival, Canoe Beach, hundreds of kilometres of trails and one of only three bird sanctuaries in BC.

We’ve played historic roles in the building of the CPR and the Big Bend Gold Rush but these days we’re proud of being Canada’s Houseboat Capital and a preferred destination for world-class sledding.

From Three Valley Gap, the eastern gateway to the Shuswap, stop along Highway, fly from tree tops, raft the river, explore the Crazy Creek and meet in Malakwa. Make the home of the Last Spike your first stop in the Shuswap.
