Where is the shuswap?

Set your sights on the Shuswap. Whether you arrive from points north, south, east or west, it’s easy to get to and impossible to forget.

Within a three hour driving radius, you can experience authentic indigenous culture, foodie feasts, outdoor adventures, family traditions or festival vibes. Not all in the same day of course, we appreciate a healthy amount of kicking back and putting our feet up too; on the shores, wandering through the shops, and taking in the sounds of the Shuswap.

Falkland

Falkland

Home to one of Canada’s oldest rodeos and Western Canada’s biggest Canadian flag, our ranching community tucked in the south-western corner of the Shuswap is a hamlet of hospitality.

With 10 lakes within a 10 minute drive, be sure to chat up the locals at the Ranch Cafe or the local pub for tips on the best fishing holes. Mosey on your way through the back roads where neighbours Gardom Lake, Deep Creek and Ranchero will further reveal the area’s enduring charm.

North Shuswap

North Shuswap

While many visit Tsutswecw Provincial Park in October to witness nature’s greatest example of sustainability, it’s a fascinating place to visit any time of year.

Part mountain playground and part lakeshore oasis with acres of water to explore. Her caretaker, the Little Shuswap Band and the communities from Squillax to Anglemont, Lee Creek, Celista, Magna Bay, and St Ives, are as awe-inspiring as the very salmon who grace us year after year.

Salmon Arm

Salmon Arm

Shuswap Lake has four arms–Shuswap, Seymour, Anstey and Salmon–where you’ll find us.

Sure, we hustle and bustle to accommodate our regional guests but we play well too. We’re home to North America’s longest curved in-land wooden wharf, the renown Roots and Blues festival, Canoe Beach, hundreds of kilometres of trails and one of only three bird sanctuaries in BC.

Sicamous & Eagle Valley

Sicamous & Eagle Valley

We’ve played historic roles in the building of the CPR and the Big Bend Gold Rush but these days we’re proud of being Canada’s Houseboat Capital and a preferred destination for world-class sledding.

From Three Valley Gap, the eastern gateway to the Shuswap, stop along Highway, fly from tree tops, raft the river, explore the Crazy Creek and meet in Malakwa. Make the home of the Last Spike your first stop in the Shuswap.

South Shuswap

South Shuswap

You’ll flip at the variety of beach resorts and flop after epic days cruising the lake, sipping local libations, exploring the shops and touring our eclectic mix of museums, attractions, arts and adventures.

From Sunnybrae to Sorrento and Blind Bay to Eagle Bay, up Notch Hill, over to White Lake and through to Tappen, stop in along the way for perfect places to unplug and play!
