Art Exhibition: Barry Games

ATELIER – a way of being, a newly founded art gallery nestled in the heart of Salmon Arm, is proud to announce its very first exhibition, featuring renowned local artist Barry Games. The gallery, established in 2024, is dedicated to showcasing an extraordinary array of original artworks by talented Canadian artists, serving both the Okanagan and Shuswap regions.

Barry Games, a long-time resident of Salmon Arm will be headlining the gallery’s inaugural show. Born in 1943, Games grew up in London, England, where his childhood memories were shaped by the aftermath of World War II. “Walking along in the chaos of the bombsites, I remember kicking at the debris, making it move and change, creating little sculptures. As the bombsites greened over with time, I felt a kind of grief for the loss of those moments of creativity, even though we now had wildflowers, trees, and shrubs where there had been none. Those joyful days playing in the midst of total carnage are the inspiration for all my art,” says Games.

His unique perspective, blending destruction and creativity, is central to this exhibition, which invites viewers to experience the transformation of chaos into beauty.

Join ATELIER for an Opening Reception November 8, 2024 from 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM featuring an evening of art and inspiration with Barry Games. The event will feature a meet-and-greet with the artist, light refreshments & snacks and an exclusive first look at his captivating works.
