First, we raise a glass to the vintners, distillers and brewmasters whose local harvest craft wines, beers, spirits and ciders will delight your taste senses. Our relatively northern growing climate and conditions are a delicious advantage. Hearty grapes, grains and fruit ensure robust flavour profiles. These very same conditions also nurture our many dairy herds whose rich milk inspire our local cheesemakers.

And there’s plenty more. We’ll tour just a few of our foodie finds, a tribute to the talented chefs and restaurateurs who call the Shuswap home. Your palate won’t soon forget these excellent eats. We’ll also provide the super foods of the region and we’re sure you’ll be “berry” impressed.

Did you know that the haskap berry, grown in the Shuswap, has three times the anti-oxidants of a blueberry? A commercial crop is grown at High Mountain Farms and the berry, with its thinner skin and smaller seeds makes it ideal for food processors looking to add flavour to their spirits, juices, syrups and sauces. You can also find haskap berries at farmers markets and Askew’s Foods.

The fewer the steps between the farm and your table, the more delicious the meal. We’ll put you in the dining chair as we visit a few of the local purveyors who make flavour their first course.

And who better to enjoy this with then our families. We’ll visit a few of the many stops that delight young and old, year after year; giant ice cream cones, mini doughnuts, furry farm friends and playful picnics.
