Where there’s four seasons, there’s snow. And where there’s snow, there’s snowshoeing. The Shuswap is also the perfect central location for a snowshoeing vacation. One of the special and yet relatively unknown cross country and snowshoe trail systems is located at Skmana Lake on the back road between Chase and the North Shuswap. The volunteer-run Skmana X-C Ski & Snowshoe Club grooms 18 km of trails ranging from beginner to advanced and the winter scenery is spectacular. Want a break from the skinny skis? The Larch Hills nordic trail system boasts 17 kilometres of beautiful snowshoe trails.

The Larch Hills cross-country ski area, 20 km from Salmon Arm, is home to some of B.C.'s finest ski trails. With 125 km of trails, about 43km of which are track set, there is no shortage of variety for the cross-country ski enthusiast - classic, skating, and backcountry/unset.
