The four arms of the Shuswap Lake have sandy shores and hidden coves and make Shuswap Lake, the largest of many lakes in the area, the perfect habitat for a diversity of fish and wildlife. We also have clear creeks, rushing rivers and more than 20 lakes filled with fish. Our water systems holds Lake Trout, Dolley Varden, Steelhead, Whitefish, Kokanee, and Burbot. In addition, four species of Salmon use these waters for spawning: Chinook, Coho, Pink and Sockeye. There are also Sturgeon in our region, along with other bottom feeders like Squaw fish and Carp (found at the river mouths by Salmon Arm). White Lake is rated as one of the top ten Rainbow Trout fishing lakes in North America and is popular for ice fishing in the winter months. A few other great spots for ice fishing include: Gardom Lake, Hidden Lake, Bolean Lake, Shuswap River and Pillar Lake.
