South Shuswap

The South Shuswap as been long renowned as the Heart of the Shuswap and offers a relaxed lifestyle with a great variety of recreational choices and accommodation properties. The area is conveniently located on Highway 1 along the southern shores of Shuswap Lake with magnificent mountain vistas and great views of the lake. Each of the South Shuswap's communities - Balmoral, Blind Bay, Eagle Bay, Notch Hill, Skimikin, Sorrento, Sunnybrae, Tappen, White Lake, and Wild Rose Bay - are unique in character. Some are rich in history and others are relatively new settlements. At Notch Hill you will find preserved buildings depicting the area's history as a railway stop. Sorrento is located on Highway 1 and offers all the amenities and services you may need to help make your visit to this area enjoyable. In Blind Bay visit the Blind Bay Market Place as well as the area's Visitor Information Centre. In Sunnybrae, walk the short trail through tall trees and cliffs to enchanting Margaret Falls, where 61 m (200 ft) of water cascades into Reinecker Creek. Ride your horse on the equestrian trails at Skimikin Lake and camp on its peaceful shores. Enjoy the many beautiful beaches Shuswap Lake throughout this area.
